#29: Calamity Jane, Part I

Listen Later

And now for something completely different: this episode features works created by YOU, our listeners! Happy Assassin, Kadon, and former guest (and fan favorite) PC Nottingham submitted stories inspired by Calamity Jane, the Wild Wild West's preeminent HBIC. The Cru discuss the ways that writing a story with the intention of reading it aloud affects the creation of the story itself.
From Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable:
Calamity Jane. The popular name of Martha Jane Burke, née Cannary (c 1852— 1903), US frontierswoman famed for her skill at riding and shooting, particularly during the Gold Rush days in the Black Hills of Dakota. It is claimed that she threatened 'calamity’ to any man who tried to woo her, but she did, in fact marry.
