#29 Eating Disorder doesn't discriminate and growing through challenging yourself with therapist Lauren Aron

Listen Later

Lauren Marie Aron has a passion for treating clients that have a disordered relationship with food and body. She uses a range of methods when working with clients. Her therapeutic skills are firstly grounded in sound social work principles and she combines these with a strong interest in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Her aim is to provide a supportive and non-judgemental space for clients to share their current difficulties and to find their inner strength. She also integrates Transactional Analysis in her work with clients, which looks at how we interact with others & EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma or to help reprocess core beliefs that impact life negatively.

Life can get difficult, and sometimes a little help from a professional Therapist can make things better. She cares about your well-being and provides you all the tools you need in order to seize the day and learn how to tackle even the most traumatic circumstances.

In this episode, we talk about the global effect of eating disorders and how heavily our culture influences our relationship with food, about body image in different cultures, what it means to grow up with a mother having an eating disorder and how self-growth happens through a stoic viewpoint at death.
