⁠⁠⁠⁠पिछले अंक⁠⁠⁠⁠ में हमने मधुशाला के संदर्भ में बात की थी कि लोग चिंता क्यों करते हैं, प्यास बुझा कर भी बुझाने का आनंद क्यों नहीं आता और एक बात भाग्य के खेल और शेक्सपियर की, ये भी बताया था के अमिताभ बच्चन ने अभिनय /acting में अपने हाथ कहाँ आजमाए थे। अब मधुशाला में कई सारी रुबाइयों में चर्चा होती है भाग्य और नियति के खेल पर, भाग्य और पौरुष के द्वन्द्व पर, तो चलिए उन्हीं में से दो कविताओं पर आज चर्चा करते हैं।

हो जाएँ सुनसान महल वे, जहाँ थिरकतीं सुरबाला,

राज्य उलट जाएँ, भूपों की भाग्य सुलक्ष्मी सो जाए,

जमे रहेंगे पीनेवाले, जगा करेगी मधुशाला (२१)

and -

धन दौलत नाती पोता क्या इक कुम्बा काम न आवेगा

सब ठाठ पड़ा रह जावेगा जब लाद चलेगा बंजारा

and -

किस्मत में था खाली खप्पर, खोज रहा था मैं प्याला,

ढूँढ़ रहा था मैं मृगनयनी, किस्मत में थी मृगछाला,

किसने अपना भाग्य समझने में मुझ सा धोखा खाया,

किस्मत में था अवघट मरघट, ढूँढ़ रहा था मधुशाला (९८)
