Fir’awn heard that there would be a male child of the Israelites who would be the direct cause of his downfall, and consequently commanded that their male children should be killed. Allah inspired Musa’s mother to place him in the Nile, promising that He will return him to her. Musa was picked up by Fir’awn’s men and ended up being raised in his palace.
