Session 298: Out-of-Body Excursions and Paycheck Clairvoyance

Grab a drink and settle in, because we’re diving into the cosmic archives. This briefing covers the vibes of Session 298 from The Early Sessions, Book 7 of the Seth Material, recorded on a very appropriate October 31, 1966 (Halloween night!).

Ghosting Your Own Body: The "ABC" of Projection

Seth decided to drop some knowledge on how to sneak out of your physical "camouflage" without causing your ego to have a total meltdown. If you've ever wanted to explore the neighborhood without actually putting on pants, this is for you.

  • The "Getting Out of Bed" Method: Seth suggests that when you wake up in the middle of the night, don't just lay there thinking about your to-do list. Instead, try to physically walk into another room while leaving your "meat suit" behind.
  • The Ego Buffer: By performing ordinary activities—like walking into the kitchen—the experience is less terrifying for your ego. As Seth puts it: "The experience will be much less startling to the ego than an abrupt projection, and the ordinary nature of the activities... will be reassuring."
  • Sightseeing and Levitation: Once you’ve mastered the "ABC" of walking out of your apartment, you can level up to normal locomotion or even levitation.
  • Seeing the "Real" You: This method allows you to look back at your own body, provided you actually want to see it. Most people subconsciously avoid this because it’s a bit trippy.

The 75th Envelope Experiment: The Paycheck Probe

The "object of the day" was a paycheck stub from Jane’s first gig as a substitute teacher—printed on pale green paper with black ink and some red numbers. Seth went full detective mode on the psychic impressions attached to this slip of paper.

  • The Greed and the Grasp: Seth picked up on a "connection with greed—a grasp." This wasn't because Jane was Scrooge, but because she specifically took the teaching job for the high pay ($25 a day—hey, it was 1966!).
  • The Toreador and the Red Face: One of the wilder hits was a "toreador" connection described as a "red and violent connection. High activity connected with a male, of repressed violent tendencies." This turned out to be a dead ringer for a red-faced, angry male teacher who had violently tossed a student across Jane's classroom earlier that week.
  • The Black Phone: Seth noted a "call" and the color "black." Jane had just insisted on getting a standard black wall phone installed so the school board could call her for substitute work.
  • The Initials J.A.B.: Seth saw the initials J.A.B. While Jane’s name was Jane Roberts, she had chosen "Ann" as a middle name during her Catholic confirmation, making the J.A. (Jane Ann) a direct hit.

Neighborhood Watch and Financial Forecasts

  • Marian’s "Mania": Seth took a chilling look at their landlady, Marian, noting she has a subconscious "mania" for needing to be needed, which is why she attracts people with endless problems.
  • Miss Callahan’s Wandering Spirit: Poor Miss Callahan, whose mind was failing, was seen by Jane in an out-of-body state. Seth confirmed they were both "out" at the same time.
  • Cash Flow: On a lighter note, Seth promised financial changes for the better were on the horizon. We love a psychic who brings good news about the bank account!
