Topic: During Your Prayers: Does God Speak to You?

Quote: God speaks to those who take time to listen, and HE listens to those who take time to pray.

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. Jeremiah 33:3

And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.” 1 Samuel 3:10

But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” Luke 11:28

Based on the above scriptures each of you Neighbors that come to share with us on #ThePorch (be it your first time or yet another time) probably never struggle with hearing from GOD. You more than likely pray 5 times a day; include every part that should be included in a prayer; Prayer comes easy to you and you have no room for growth. Okay for the rest us of, we could use some assistance and desire to increase our efforts and results from praying. As it relates to the quote if you have prayed and been unable to hear from GOD; unable to hear GOD speak to you; you must really have concerns now as to what you are not doing right. Or you may hear GOD but it is not clear; its fuzzy. Either category or even if you have an entirely different category, when you read the last posted scripture above, you realize that not only is it Important that you hear from GOD but in order to be blessed you must hear from GOD - in order to ‘keep it (the word of GOD). So now more than ever I’m asking, “What must I do to hear GOD speak when I pray?” What about you?

Often as a young child Prayer was introduced to most of us as something you do at specific times for specific reasons. At the least, you were told to pray before you go to sleep at night and before you eat. Then you were possibly scolded when you didn’t. It was treated more like a chore or duty. Might it had been better that it was treated like a privilege and a joyful activity that is as essential to life as breathing. I don’t know what the balance is to ensure that we understand that GOD is someone to be honored and respected and yet that GOD is someone that we are to develop a relationship with as we do friends and family. My Prayer right now is that GOD will help all of us for our own lives and then help us to show and share this knowledge with the young children and new believers that we encounter every day. GOD never changes. That Truth leads me to know that GOD does talk to us now; because GOD talked to people before. As we look at the Scripture from Samuel above, we need to cry out to GOD to remove the obstacles that hinder our hearing.

This Podcast episode is being originally aired on Resurrection Sunday 2017. I struggled in hearing from GOD and decided to redo this episode before I submitted it. Then as I listened to the replay I kept saying shouldn’t I do an entire episode about Easter Or Resurrection? Then I felt like I heard GOD speak to me that Prayer is the culmination of activating Resurrection. Somebody you know (a Neighbor) is either in need of hearing from GOD to receive Salvation; to be delivered to live a Saved Life that glorifies The LORD; to know what their Purpose is to bring others to hearing from GOD so that the intended result of The Resurrection continues. So, if not you, you have to know some Neighbors who are not able to hear from GOD; who need Salvation; who need Deliverance; who long to know their purpose in Life. This episode is for those Neighbors who are growing weary in praying and not hearing from GOD; not seeing changes (in their lives) or seeing changed lives.
