Titus 1:10-16

-On the basis of the Gospel (1:1-3)

-Paul invests in and commissions Titus (1:4)

-To set things in order (1:5a)

-By appointing elders (1:5b)

-Who have a good reputation (1:6-8)

-Including the ability to instruct and correct (1:9)

-Why? = 1:10-16 

Danger of False Teachers to a Gospel-Based Church

Danger #1- Do as I say...not as I do

Danger #2- You're missing out...Need more/different knowledge

Danger #3- You haven't done enough...Need to be purified

Recognizing False Teaching

+ to Scripture (need extra knowledge/revelation)

- from Christ (less than divine; or not truly human)

x requirements for salvation (other than faith in Christ)

/ the body of Christ (separatism; only one human leader)

Healthy Christian Life and Church

-Trust in God's Word (not seeking new revelation)

-Made Pure in Christ (not striving to be more religious) 

-Receive God's Gifts as Good (not rejecting or abusing these)

-Good Deeds based on True Faith (not unproductive)
