Archduke Franz Ferdinand had the burden of the Hapsburg dynasty heaped upon his shoulders, as Europe was in the crosshairs of a great reset in 1914. Serbia, under the sway of revolutionary forces was bridling at the bit for independence, and while Ferdinand was not opposed to more liberal measures and freedoms in the vassal states of the Hapsburg empire, he also had a grave mistrust of some of his closest guards, the Hungarian legion, whom he believed could be swayed into am inter-army rebellion. Ferdinand had an almost pathological disdain for them.
On Sunday, 28 June 1914, at about 10:45 am, Franz Ferdinand, his wife (Countess Sophie Chotek) and their unborn baby were assassinated in Sarajevo, the capital of the Austro-Hungarian province of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Within months WWI begins to rage across Europe. It will last 4 years, 3 months and 2 weeks. An estimated 68,176,000 would either die or be wounded during it's horrific carnage, which would devastate many remnants of the Tartarian world and re-draw Europe's political boundaries, while also launching the USA into it's first series of global conflicts, which for all intents and purposes started when the Lusitania was sunk off the Scottish coast in 1915.
