'Scarabeo' è una (brutta) copia dell'originale 'Scrabble' (sì, ci fu di mezzo anche una denuncia per violazione del diritto d'autore). Giocare in italiano è frustrante e per niente divertente. Parola di giocatrice appassionata e accanita!

Ho provato a giocare a Scrabble in italiano. Prima di tutto diciamo che esiste anche un gioco italiano che si chiama Scarabeo. Mi sono documentata: si chiama Scarabeo perché è praticamente un gioco copiato dall'inglese Scrabble, tanto che la persona italiana che si è 'inventata' (metto inventata tra virgolette) Scarabeo e venne anche denunciata per violazione di copyright e quindi modificò il nome, lo chiamò Scarabeo, e cambiò anche un paio delle regole del gioco. Però diciamo che anche se avesse adottato la stessa scacchiera, la stessa tavola e le stesse regole, il gioco in italiano non funzionerebbe perché per la morfologia della lingua inglese, che è molto diversa da quella italiana. In inglese basta che tu metta una 's' alla fine di una parola e crei un'altra parola. Un sacco di parole finiscono e iniziano con le stesse lettere, mentre in italiano. Lo sappiamo, la stragrande il 99,9% delle parole finisce con una vocale quindi non puoi far iniziare una parola, oppure se vuoi fare iniziare una nuova parola con il finale di una precedente, sei limitato alle cinque vocali; poi in inglese quello che è bello quando si gioca Scrabble (l'avrete capito io sono una giocatrice di Scrabble appassionata e accanita) non è tanto fare le parole lunghe, perché magari fai una parola lunga che però vale poco, la cosa bella è riuscire con pochissime lettere a fare dei punteggi altissimi, appunto per una serie di incroci dove si riescono a coprire magari lettere triple, parole triple, doppie eccetera diverse volte, perché con poche lettere si fanno le parole che poi vengono lette in croce. A me piace tantissimo giocare a Scrabble. Ho provato anche a giocare a Scrabble con la tavola inglese però in italiano, ma non si può appunto perché si è troppo limitati nella possibilità di costruire le parole. E poi in italiano non esistono parole con la W e con le altre lettere Y e X. Tra le regole diverse che ho visto esistono nello Scarabeo italiano, è quella ad esempio che in italiano si possono usare le sigle - ah! anatema! - invece naturalmente nella versione originale non si possono usare né le sigle, né i nomi propri, e le parole che iniziano con una maiuscola, poi c'è tutta una lista di abbreviazioni che è possibile usare/non usare. Insomma niente Scarabeo, Scarabeo non mi piace buu!. Giochiamo a Scrabble che è molto più divertente e ha le regole molto più belle.

A lot of words end and start with the same letters while in Italian, as we [Italian] all know, the overwhelming 99.9% of words end with a vowel, so you cannot start a word, or if you want to start a new word with the end of a previous one, you are limited to the five vowels; then in English, and this is the beauty when you play Scrabble (you will have understood that I am a passionate and avid Scrabble player), is not so much to make long words, because you could make a long word but it is worth little, the beautiful thing is to succeed with very few letters to make very high scores, just with intersections where you cover triple letters, triple words, double words etc. several times, because with a few letters you create words that cross. I really love playing Scrabble. I also tried to play Scrabble with the English board but in Italian, but you just can't because you are too limited in the possibility of constructing words. And then in Italian there are no words with W nor with Y and X. Among the different rules I have seen exist in the Italian Scarabeo, for example, in Italian you can use the abbreviations - ah! unheard of! - instead of course in the original version you can't use abbreviations, proper names, and words starting with a capital letter, then there is a whole list of abbreviations that you can/cannot use.
