Sono diventata volontaria di "Be my eyes". Ieri finalmente mi sono scaricata la app, ne avevo sentito parlare da molto tempo, e finalmente me la sono scaricata sul cellulare. Cos'è "Be my eyes"? È una app che aiuta ciechi e ipovedenti a svolgere le normali faccende che una persona fa normalmente in casa. Ma prima diciamo un po' chi è il creatore di questa fantastica app e come funziona. L'idea è venuta a Hans Jørgen Wiberg, un danese che lui stesso è ipovedente, e nel 2012 lui già lavorava presso l'Associazione Danese per i ciechi, e si era reso conto come molti ciechi e ipovedenti utilizzassero le tecnologie del video, quindi le videochiamate, per farsi aiutare da amici e parenti quando ne avevano bisogno. Così ha creato questa app che poi l'ha lanciata nel gennaio del 2015 con una start up, e oggi a più di 4 milioni di volontari e funziona in 180 lingue, incluso l'italiano. Cosa si può fare con questa app? I volontari si registrano e ricevono una chiamata quando un cieco o un ipovedente ha bisogno d'aiuto. Aiuto per che cosa? Se questa persona è a casa e ha bisogno d'aiuto per trovare oggetti che ha perso o che sono caduti, fa la chiamata, i vari volontari ricevono tutti la chiamata, poi il primo volontario che riceve la chiamata risponde e il cieco, o l'ipovedente dice "mi è caduta la penna, mi aiuti a trovarla?" Poi posizionando il cellulare il volontario guida il check ipovedente finché non trova l'oggetto, oppure anche per farsi descrivere fotografie, dipinti o anche opere artistiche: va al museo si mette le cuffie e fa vedere l'oggetto o il quadro, o la scultura e il volontario fa una descrizione, ma anche aiuto ad abbinare o descrivere i colori, immaginate che la mattina vi dovete vestire, dovete scegliere tra una maglia rossa e una maglia blu, però siete cieco o ipovedente quindi non potete vedere i colori, o anche a risolvere dei semplici problemi sul computer, ma anche quando si fanno gli acquisti, distinguere tra diversi oggetti. Insomma è una piattaforma fantastica che mette in contatto le persone che vogliono aiutare con le persone che hanno bisogno di aiuto. C'è anche una pagina di "Be my eyes" in italiano, vi metterò il link nelle note del programma. L'unica cosa che noto è che in tutta la pagina parlano dei ciechi come "non vedenti" e voi sapete che è una cosa che non si dovrebbe fare, perché i ciechi dovrebbero essere definiti per quello che sono e non in negativo per quello che non possono fare.
