Oggi vi voglio parlare di un cane tipico della Sardegna, il pastore fonnese, e ve ne voglio parlare perché un amico su Facebook ha pubblicato la foto di un gregge che attraversava la strada, o meglio di una macchina ferma per permettere a un gregge di attraversare la strada. E questi studi hanno anche messo in evidenza che studiando le affinità genetiche con altre razze canine europee e africane, si può ripercorrere addirittura la storia della migrazione umana verso la Sardegna. Come è fatto questo cane? È un cane molto bello, molto intelligente, molto espressivo anche se fa un po' paura perché è molto territoriale, è molto conscio del suo mestiere di cane da pastore e viene descritto come coraggioso, diffidente però degli estranei. A quanto pare a Fonni viene conosciuto con il nome di 'cane'e acapiu' cioè cane da legare, poverino speriamo che non lo leggano. La stazza è media il maschio può arrivare fino a 35 chili e la femmina fino a 30 kg, e quello che è interessante è che nonostante abbia delle caratteristiche genetiche molto particolari, i pastori fonnesi non hanno assolutamente alcuna intenzione di farli diventare cani che si mettono in vendita, infatti ho letto che una ricercatrice del National Geographic ha chiesto a un pastore, ma non vuole che vengano studiati così da poterli selezionare come razze pregiate? E lui ha detto, ma scusi lei metterebbe in vendita un membro della sua famiglia? Mi è piaciuto moltissimo questo.
