As we celebrate Advent, the encroaching darkness of late autumn and winter mirrors the spiritual gloom we often face. We long for brighter days, symbolic of the hope illuminated by the promised Savior. From the shadows of Eden's fall to the darkest days in human history, God's Great Light emerges, fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah. Jesus, the Son of God, declared as the Light in Genesis, pierces through sin's darkness. Jesus boldly declares His identity as the Light of the World, a radiant sun, dispelling the shadows. He reveals the darkness within hearts and addresses profound needs, offering salvation's light to all.
This Advent reflection unveils the essence of the season—celebrating the arrival of the true Light. Strings of lights and Advent candles symbolize this radiant truth. As we meditate on Christ's glory, Matthew 5:14-16 challenges us to be lights, reflecting His brilliance. Even though Jesus ascended to heaven, His light shines through believers, like the moon in the night sky.
Join us in this light-giving journey, understanding that, just as the world witnessed the Light, it now needs to see His glory through us.
