Though it's April 1, this is not an April Fools joke! Two of our high school students got to hear from and interview our very own Cape Girardeau mayor: Stacy Kinder.

Bio: Mayor Kinder is from Hot Springs Arkansas. She earned a track scholarship to Vanderbilt University where she met her future husband John Kinder. The two married and moved to Memphis where she completed her bachelor of science degree in Physics from the University of Memphis. She then taught high school physics and math until becoming a stay-at-home mom when their first child was born. The Kinders moved back to Cape in 2000. In the time since, Mayor Kinder served in several ministries, notably in Young Life. After being highly involved in school activities as her kids grew up in the public school system, she served on the Cape school board for 6 years, was elected to the Cape City Council in 2018, and was most recently elected Mayor in 2022.
