I apologize for any digital artifacting you might hear in today's recording. I'm not sure what caused this error, but I am working to fix it for future episodes. Thank you!
Today's liturgy has been adapted from the service of Daily Morning Prayer in the 2019 Book of Common Prayer
Call to Worship: Psalm 19:4
Confession and Absolution:
Almighty God and Father, we confess to you,
to one another, and to the whole company of heaven, that we have sinned, through our own fault, in thought, and word, and deed, and in what we have left undone.
For the sake of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and by the power of your Holy Spirit raise us up to serve you newness of life, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
May Almighty God grant us forgiveness of all our sins, and the grace and comfort of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Antiphon:
The mercy of the Lord is Everlasting: O come, let us adore him.
Psalm 140
Response:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
First Lesson: 2 Kings 15:1-26
Second Lesson: Acts 5:12-end
This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God
Ecce, Deus (Surely, it is God who saves me):
Surely, it is God who saves me; I will trust in him and not be afraid.
For the LORD is my stronghold and my sure defense, and he will be my Savior.
Therefore you shall draw water with rejoicing from the springs of salvation.
And on that day you shall say, Give thanks to the LORD and call upon his Name;
Make his deeds known among the peoples; see that they remember that his Name is exalted.
Sing the praises of the LORD, for he has done great things, and this is known in all the world.
Cry aloud, inhabitants of Zion, ring out your joy, for the great one in the midst of you is the Holy One of Israel.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
A Collect for Grace
O Lord, our Heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to this day: Defend us by your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin nor run into any danger; and that, guided by your Spirit, we may do what is righteous in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
A Prayer for Mission
Almighty and everlasting God, who alone works great marvels: Send down upon our clergy and the congregations committed to their charge the life-giving Spirit of your grace, shower them with the continual dew of your blessing, and ignite in them a zealous love of your Gospel; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Prayer of St. John Chrysostom
Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time, with one accord to make our common supplications to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will grant their requests: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the ages to come life everlasting. Amen.
Benediction: Romans 15:13
