A lot of the traditional wisdom isn't exactly holding up these days - voters want someone authentic and - they don't necessarily need to agree on everything, but they want to feel like someone's in it for the right reasons, and that when things go wrong, they'll be told how it happened and why and have an actual plan going forward.
