We all have a natural tendency to sabotage ourselves when it comes to change. We do it unconsciously, and it's often rooted in fear. We fear we won't be able to make the change successfully, so we don't even try. Or, we start to make the change but then find excuses to backslide. To overcome this sabotaging behavior, we need to change our mindset. Instead of thinking that change is hard and that we're bound to fail, we need to model ourselves after successful people who have made similar changes. When we see that others have been successful, it helps us to believe that we can be successful too. With this new mindset in place, we can begin to take the steps necessary to make lasting change.
