In this episode Luke and Sarge chat to Xavier Calgaro, a Civil Engineer working for Boutique Engineering Firm Millar Merrigan (https://www.millarmerrigan.com.au) in Melbourne. After high school, Xavier completed a Double Undergraduate Degree in Engineering and Commerce at Monash University (https://www.monash.edu). Xavier jumped into co-curricular activities and experiences, even spending a semester in Sweden during his double degree. If you're interested in the world of civil engineering, Xavier has a lot to share.

  1. Never be afraid to pick up the phone and call someone for advice. 
  2. Engineers are negotiators, mediators and managers of people. There is so much more to engineering than maths.
  3. The importance of preparing for important conversations.
  4. Pursuing a double degree provides students with flexibility and the opportunity to mature before they enter the workforce.
  5. Don't choose VCE subjects just because they get marked up. Study what you find interesting.
  6.  You make your own luck. Luck is driven by hard work, putting yourself out there and treating people the right way.
