This week I'm a joined by Chris Moore, vegan fitness enthusiast and aspiring bodybuilder
Originally from Louisiana and now based in Northern California. At a young age he played a lot of soccer and was an active healthy kid. When he got to high school he stopped playing sports and by the time he graduated from high school he was at his heaviest weight of about 235lbs or just over 100kg. At this point he was not only overweight but also a smoker, a partier, depressed, anxious and generally unhappy. HE suffered with health issues such as indigestion, lack of quality sleep, feeling tired, bloated and fatigued. At 19 years of age he knew this just wasn’t right. he decided it was time to make a change and start putting things right again.
So he decided to undertake some research as to what might be beneficial in overcoming his anxiety. This was when he discovered the plant based diet and it’s ability to help alleviate the anxiety he was experiencing.
Flash forward 8 years he is now fit, healthy, depression and anxiety free, has quit smoking and drinking and hasn’t consumed animal products for over a year.
His transformation has been much more than just physical. This is his journey, who he was and who he is today. He no longer struggles with the self confidence to share his story.
Chris is also a Father. He wanted to make sure that not only was he going to be healthy for his son but that his son was going to be healthy too.
This week we talk about
- His journey from active kid, to over weight, depressed, and anxious in his 20s to thriving vegan fitness enthusiast in his early 30s
- Benefits of plant based diet, evidence and tips on how to make the transition
- His mental health struggles, particularly anxiety and the power of Mindfulness in helping to cope.
- His health struggles and how a plant based diet cleared it all up
- Breaking down vegan stereotypes and presenting information in a way that makes people more receptive to hear the message.
Today’s episode will be of interest to anyone that wants to feel better on a day to day basis rather than feel like they are just managing pain. You don’t have to be a fitness enthusiast or even particularly like exercise, you will still get a lot out of this
I think you’ll agree that there was lots of great information for you to take away. Take it in, absorb it, let it sink in. Even if you just take one piece and start to apply it, and in a few days try something more, before you know it you’ll be feeling totally different. Let me know one thing that you might try to apply to your life.
