"Your throat tightens every time you swallow the words you wish you'd said. Your voice cracks when you finally speak. That's not just stress—that's a blocked throat chakra."
In this 30-minute guided yoga practice, we focus specifically on the Vishuddha chakra—the fifth energy center located at the base of the throat, governing communication, self-expression, and truth . When balanced, you speak your truth with clarity and confidence. When blocked, you may experience a fear of speaking up, throat tension, thyroid imbalances, or a sense of being unheard .
This practice combines gentle asanas (fish pose, shoulder stand, cat-cow with neck focus, bridge pose, and lion's breath), breathwork (ujjayi breath and extended exhalations), and guided meditation to activate and clear the throat center . We incorporate specific mantras: "I speak my truth with clarity and compassion. My voice is strong, my words matter, and I release the fear of being judged."
Using the bija mantra "HAM" (pronounced "hahmm")—vibrating the seed sound of the throat chakra—we align the physical and energetic body. You'll also learn simple mudras (chinmaya or jnana) with fingers pressed at the throat as you chant. Wear comfortable clothing. Have a yoga mat and a blanket for relaxation. No prior yoga experience needed. Press play—your voice is waiting to be heard.
