In this episode of The Women’s Pelvic Health Podcast, I am joined by Andria Lea, a Somatic Therapist based in New York/Brooklyn. This conversation is FASCINATING. Andria discuses her own, extremely personal journey with pelvic pain and how this allowed her to transition from her career as a manager of an animal hospital to a Somatic Therapist. In Andria’s practice, she helps patients to better understand their bodies, and the shame, betrayal and isolation that often comes with having chronic pain. She also talks about how we can work through these challenges, how we can better understand the relationship towards the pain that we have, why our bodies hold trauma, how we can learn to forgive our bodies and how self love is really defined. Andria explain the difference between somatic therapy and talk therapy, along with what a typical somatic therapy session looks like. She is a true wealth of knowledge and I hope everyone finds this episode as interesting as I did!
