30 - Under the Confederate Monument ft. Several Tangents

Listen Later

The story of Will Norman and Gilbert Harris might not be well known, but their deaths and the Confederate Monument that stands where their deaths took place still affect me. Shelley and Talia from Several Tangents use their backgrounds in criminology to help me share their stories and shed light on the dark history of the monument that still stands downtown in the city where I grew up.  If lynching is a sensitive topic for you, I suggest not listening past the first 35 minutes. If these stories touch you, please consider sharing so that more people know about the atrocities committed against these men and the absolute disrespect of erecting a Confederate monument on a recorded lynching spot. These kinds of secrets cause division, but we can heal by acknowledging the pain of the past and how that trickles down to other generations. Shelley and Talia were amazing and I hope you enjoyed having them on the show. If you could, go show them some love! I'll leave links to their social media below!
