30: What happens when you try new ideas

Listen Later

There is something really powerful in trying new ideas.

Steve Jobs's "Think Different Advert" highlighted a few people, the mavericks and misfits, he narrated the advert, and the words are pretty cool.

"Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Here are some of those mavericks and misfits, the people that push the world on.

Albert Einstein, Bob Dylan, Martin Luther King, Jr., Richard Branson, John Lennon (with Yoko Ono), Buckminster Fuller, Thomas Edison, Muhammad Ali, Ted Turner, Maria Callas, Mahatma Gandhi, Amelia Earhart, Alfred Hitchcock, Martha Graham, Jim Henson (with Kermit the Frog), Frank Lloyd Wright and Pablo Picasso.

It's ok to see things differently, It's only after you've done your doing that people will see just how brilliant you really are.
