Session 300: Reincarnation, Projections, and the Great Newspaper Mystery

Welcome to the cosmic lounge, friends. Pull up a chair and maybe pour a glass of wine—Jane was sipping some during this session, so why shouldn't you?

Session recorded on the night of November 7, 1966.

Seth was in a particularly chatty and insightful mood, delivering some mind-bending truths about how we build our own reality while Jane was busy acing a double-blind envelope experiment. Here is the lowdown on the metaphysical magic and the "Gubatorial" shenanigans.

The Reincarnation "Projection" Vibe

Seth starts off by basically telling us that moving between lives is as easy as taking a nap or a quick trip to the tropics. According to him, there is no "growth" in the way we think of it—just the law of the universe.

  • Reincarnation is just a long-distance call: Seth explains that reincarnation and projection are actually the same thing. "The journey itself is as instantaneous as a projection from here to, say, Puerto Rico. You are simply delving more deeply into the moment point in the reincarnational instance."
  • Time is a lie (but a convenient one): He reminds us that there is no past or present. One life isn't "before" another; we just use those terms so our brains don't melt.
  • Personality persists: When you project (or reincarnate), you’re still "you." You carry your tendencies along, even if you forget the "self on the bed" for a while.

You Build Your Own Reality (Even the Messy Parts)

Seth drops some heavy truth bombs about how our inner world manifests as our physical environment. It’s all about what you expect to see.

  • The Expectation Engine: "Expectation is behind all sense data, and forms it... Your physical condition in every way is a reflection of your inner expectations, accomplishments, and failures, and I have told you that any illness is the result of an inner distortion."
  • Healing the Distortion: Whether it's a "hangover from a previous existence" or a current glitch, these distortions create our physical reality.
  • Intellect vs. Spirit: Seth gives the human intellect a bit of a "whacking" but admits it’s a beautiful necessity. He just wishes it wouldn't focus so much on just what the five senses tell us.

The 76th Envelope Experiment: "Gubatorial"

Rob (Joseph) tried to trick Jane by tearing a random piece of the New York Times and sealing it in double envelopes. He didn't even look at it! Seth (through Jane) decided to flex a bit.

  • The "Gubatorial" Glitch: Jane started saying "Gubatorial" and mentioned elections. It turns out the clipping was from an Election Day sale ad. Since the New York Governor's race was happening that week, she was clearly aiming for "Gubernatorial."
  • The Color Blue: She kept seeing "blue," which appeared in the ad for "natural blue fox" and "blue thermal blankets."
  • The Numbers Game: She called out "42" and "1943." Lo and behold, there were pillowcases sized 42x36 and an article about a seminary founded in 1943 on the same page.

The Cat, The Sedan, and The Resentment

The session takes a bit of a somber but fascinating turn regarding the couple's cat, Catherine, who had been hit by a car.

  • Telepathy or Timing: Jane had a weird urge to check the clothes in the basement with a flashlight right around the time the cat was found.
  • Absorbing Energy: Seth explained that a man in a gray sedan hit the cat because he was taking out "momentary resentment." The poor cat accepted the hit because the vibe was just too heavy to dodge.
