Houston Curtis joins the crew on Beyond 8 Figures, he has some great stories of life as a Former MTV network executive and Creator of niche-driven multi-million dollar entertainment brands, Houston Curtis has been called a “Visionary” and “trail-blazer” by his peers. Houston brings with him over 20 years of success and experience as a Producer, EP, Show-runner, Direct Marketing expert, independent Label President, writer, speaker, and entertainment consultant. Houston has built multi million dollar after multi million dollar business all in the entertainment space.

One of Houstons stories was about how he had created backyard wrestling, pre youtube, how he had to get people to mail him VHS tapes of the crazy backyard stunts, even MTV deemed these too much for TV. If Houston looked back now he says he would have put all his content on Youtube as soon as it launched and waited for a revenue model to be created.

Houston Curtis’s Founder and CEO positions have included start-ups Backyard Wrestling Inc., Xtreme Entertainment Group, Big Vision Entertainment and Legend Group Studios. Collectively, these companies have grossed over 100 million dollars in revenues from exploitation of all content rights since their 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2014 inception.

Houston has created and executive produced shows, films and a variety of television programming for FOX, MTV, CBS, A&E, GSN, G4, DirecTV, Warner Brothers, Sony Studios, and Twentieth Television among others.

Most notable Houston co-founded of the largest private poker game in Hollywood history along side actor Tobey Maguire. As they engineer behind the events that inspired the book and film Molly’s Game, Curtis new book Billion Dollar Hollywood Heist, tells the true rise and fall story of this now legendary poker game, and how when it all came crashing down, Curtis crashed hardest.

In this episode, Steve, Richard, and Houston discuss:

  • Content Content Content
  • From MTV to Backyard Wrestling to Professional Poker
  • Say Yes to Opportunities
  • Don’t let anyone take over your content
  • Find what you love and the money will come
  • Key Takeaways:

    • If Youtube was starting over today he would have put every piece of content on there and waited for a revenue model
    • If you are blessed to find something you love so much and you can make money doing it, do it
