A young woman of  color became the first Black American legacy at her independent boarding school. Her experience was not as smooth sailing as one might assume and, thanks to her love of journaling, she documented it all in her debut book.

Joining us today to chat is Kendra James, author of Admissions: A Memoir of Surviving Boarding School!  Admissions was just named one of the ten best memoirs of 2022 by Vulture. Kendra is a founding editor of Shondaland.com and her writing has been published in Elle, Marie Claire, Women's Health Magazine, Harpers, The Verge, Catapult, and The Toast, among other outlets.
