Episode 33: 31 Granville Road
Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
A neon-lit district known for shopping, street food, and the unrelenting hum of city life. But in 1999, one apartment in this maze of high-rises became the site of one of the most horrific crimes in Hong Kongβs history.
Inside Flat 3 of Block B at 31 Granville Road, a 23-year-old woman named Fan Man-yee was held captive for over a month. Tortured, starved, and eventually killed, her remains were discovered sewn into a Hello Kitty doll β a grotesque contrast that shocked the world. The media branded it The Hello Kitty Murder. The apartment became infamous. And the building β later demolished β left behind nothing but silence.
This episode revisits the life of Fan Man-yee, the violent sadism of her captors, and the role of a teenage accomplice whose nightmares finally led police to the hidden horror. More than a crime, this is a story of systemic failure: of a girl abandoned young, punished for surviving, and forgotten by the world until it was too late.
