Hosts, Jess and Shannon, sit down for a conversation with Claire, an adoption social worker.   With nearly 20 years of experience, Claire shares insightful perspective about working with both birth families (primarily birth mothers) and adoptive families.  We discuss the process, expenses, and share honest feelings.  Claire shares some personal stories associated with adoption, as well as some of the highs and lows of being an adoption social worker. 

Speaking of lows, during this episode, we simultaneously tell more about host Jess' story to adopt Jude, which Claire reports was her hardest case to date.  The situation got complicated.  Some stakeholders felt that too many lawyers were involved, making the process even more difficult and expensive (to the tune of what could have been an additional $120K).  Jess' (and Boy Jess' too!) story to adopt Jude is a prime example of, in the end, love being greater than fear.
