31: (MENTAL WELLNESS) How To Quiet Your Mind

Before I begin, I want to make it clear  that exercise works just as well as antidepressants for SOME people. For  others, it isn’t enough, and they will need medication. That’s not me  saying that; that comes directly from Harvard and multiple studies.

As  most of you know, I’m currently on my one-week break away from the gym,  and I thought I was going to have a good time, but it’s been anything  but that. I should’ve guessed this, though. I’ve talked about this  before, so you probably already know where I’m going with this. Exercise  for me is an antidepressant.

It not only helps me realize how  much strength is inside me, which empowers me outside of the gym. It  also helps shut off those dark thoughts that go on inside my mind.

When  I work out, I use up all my pent-up energy, so when I get out of the  gym, I don’t have any energy left to give to those thoughts. Plus, my  thoughts are much purer, my mood is elevated, and my mind is clearer.

I’ve  been working out long enough to know when it’s time to take a break  from working out, and I 100% needed this time off. It’s just harder than  it’s been in the past.

When people see me taking breaks and then  getting right back to the gym, they always question how I do it!  There’s really no other option for me! I don’t know where I would be if I  didn’t work out, and I honestly don’t even want to think about it.

If  anyone reading this struggles with negative self-talk, dark thoughts,  mood swings, etc., etc. I highly recommend you try going to the gym and  working out or just going on a brisk walk in the sun! The hardest part  is starting, but I GUARANTEE if you push yourself, you’ll leave a  different person. Those thoughts that haunt you won’t be as loud, and  you’ll come home in a better mood. You’ll essentially see things  differently.

Sorry, this isn’t like my usual posts that hype you  up and get you ready to run through a wall. But this is the reality of  my life and so many others. This isn’t something to be ashamed of  either! This is something that needs to be talked about more! If anyone  needs to talk, my DMs are always open. I want the best for you all.

Thanks for reading this, and I’ll see you all in the gym.
