During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are going to talk about the fact that Scripture interprets Scripture. In other words, as we engage in hermeneutics (which is just a fancy word for Bible interpretation), we interpret one passage of Scripture by looking at other similar passages of Scripture. What do other areas of the Bible have to say about the passage we are in? This is called cross referencing.
And this is the third step in the Study with S.T.O.R.Y. Bible study method: Openly Explore. When we explore what all of Scripture has to say about our current text, we soon discover that the Bible is one grand story with certain themes running all the way through it. It's true that the Bible provides the best interpretation of itself.
So grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and get ready for a sword drill, and join me on the pages of God's Word.
