Good evening. Southern California. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Eighty seven degrees in the Inland Empire. On the first day of March. Let that sink in for a second. Because this is the last gasp of that heat.
In the next 24 hours., A low pressure trough is sliding through California right now, dismantling the ridge that's been keeping us toasty. You can already feel the marine layer creeping inland along the coast. That cool, damp air is the opening act for a real cooldown.
The Inland Empire grabbed the headline today at 87 degrees with west winds gusting to 25 miles an hour. Tonight clears out, dropping to 54. Monday? Seventy five. That's a twelve degree nosedive.
Over in Greater Los Angeles, you hit 82 degrees around 2 P.M. Clouds roll in tonight with a low of 53. Monday brings 72. and honestly, that's going to feel almost chilly after today.
Down in San Diego County, 80 degrees this afternoon. Northwest winds are kicking up to 25 miles an hour. Partly cloudy tonight, low of 56. Monday settles to 68 with those gusty winds hanging around.
Now the week ahead tells an interesting story. Monday is the cooldown day across the board. Tuesday and Wednesday bounce back a few degrees on weak offshore flow. Then things get spicy. Another system pushes in Thursday into Friday. and we could be looking at Santa Ana conditions by next weekend. The whole stretch stays bone dry through at least the next ten days.
Quick note for anyone who soaked up sun today. UV index hit 48 degrees.48 degrees, which is high for March. and we're gaining over two minutes of daylight now. Spring equinox is just nineteen days out.
Slather on that aloe if you caught some color today. Your future self will appreciate it.
