The distance between Annie and Maddie ensures that Annie won’t smack Maddie in the head for her ignorance on swiping left and right. Even though Maddie is happy in her relationship of five years (she has a girlfriend, a second girlfriend, and a father who brings her tea in bed), she wants more. Maddie wants a book club. Annie is using this description to distract from the story of her chirping, but let’s just say, “tweet tweet.”
