Our Scripture passage for this Sunday comes from the Gospel of Matthew 23:1–12. In this text, we hear Jesus instructing His disciples on certain pitfalls to be avoided both in their roles as religious followers and religious leaders. These cautions offer a timeless counsel for us as well because we can face many of the same pitfalls that sometimes arise from human weakness in any organization.
