We’re back, and to kick off our return we hand over to BTTB’s own Curtis Randles to introduce our latest selector.

"Back in 1999 I travelled to Ibiza, armed with two boxes of records, and managed to bag a residency at what was then known as Kanya Sunset Cafe, in San Antonio.Working as night time bar manager was an Ibizan man named Augustine. Little did I know at the time, but he was also a DJ. As the season progressed, he would occasionally play a Sunset, effectively teaching me that it was all about emotion and tugging at people’s heart strings. We struck up a friendship, and would often go to Es Paradis after Kanya closed to listen to DJs, and communicate about music, via his limited English and my limited Spanish, over a whiskey or two. As the years went by I saw less of him, hearing he’d moved to Formentera.Cut to 2015, and another great friend I made on the island, Andy G, contacted me with the initial premise for Back To The Beach. I thought of trying to obtain a mix from Augustine, but on later investigation found out he had sadly passed away. Back in 2001, however, I’d pestered him all season long to record me a set, for my own listening pleasure. One night, he turned up at Kanya, unannounced, big grin on his face, clutching a CD. He’d recorded his set at Pacha Playa for me. It’s that set from 2001 that we present to you now, in honour of our fondly remembered friend.Here’s to you Augustine..."
