32. New Skin
I woke up one day and decided to change my skin.*
I’m sure that sounded crazy so I’ll say it all again.
I woke up… one day and decided to change my skin.
Not as much my idea, as that it grew out from within.
It seems new skin was required
because the old had become tired.
A frame of reference turned brittle
inside a paradigm too little.
Or picture this idea I am spitting
as an analogy like… knitting.
But the fabrics random where we’re sitting
and the patches we are sewing are all ill-fitting.
Or how we eat and drink too hearty
when we’re with friends or at a party.
Because a vice grows from a crutch
when we reach for it too much.
Ok… apologies for my ramble.
Thanks for dealing with that preamble,
While I get back to the bottom line
We need new skin to hold new wine.
Fresh capacity designed to hold a consciousness Divine.
I noticed a new consciousness…
Let’s call that new wine.
When I released the incessant fears
of an uncontrolled future space and time.
So old skin - I’ll summarize as the egoic-mind.
And if I tried to contain this New
along with the egoic burdens I usually hold onto.
Then projected shadows I would spew,
and all my ends would come unglued.
So, I resolved to “just let go…
I woke up one day… and decided to kill my ego”.**
To shed my old skin!
Now that’s some ice that’s thin!
To “just let go”.
As an exchange.
Of all I “could not hold onto.
And exchange it all, for a hope…
That lies beyond the blue”.***
But as a child of this big-blue
That’s a hard thing to do.
How do we shed the egoic-mind?
Within this myth called space and time?
I can’t lie. It is a constant struggle
to shift my awareness
from habitually imagined trouble.
But at the same time
this new wine
has been so freeing.
To finally live out
“In Christ we live and move and have our Being”.****
