Parhaat ystävykset Holly Wells ja Jessica Chapman olivat viettäneet sunnuntaipäivää grillaten Hollyn perheen kotona. Illansuussa Hollyn äiti huomasi, että tytöt eivät olleet enää Hollyn huoneessa. Jessican vanhemmat eivät olleet myöskään kuulleet tytöistä ja pian tämän jälkeen tyttöjen katoamisesta ilmoitettiin poliiseille.
