Listen Later

Kirk Reflections 1st September 2024.

Rev. Erick du Toit brings this week's reflection from Kirkliston Parish Church, Scotland.

ORIGINS #1: CREATION“First this: God created the Heavens and Earth—all you see, all you don’t see. Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God’s Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss.”(Genesis 1: 1-2 MSG)

13.8 billion years seems like a while…It can be quite overwhelming to think of the length and breadth of all we’re able to see (and NOT see!). And I mean… how BIG is the universe really? Scientists say it keeps expanding…

I don’t know about you; but the vastness of it all makes me feel small. And sometimes even insignificant.Do I really matter?Of course you do! You are the crown of His creation! That’s why the beginning is so important… an African prober says: ‘If you know the beginning well, the end shall not trouble you.’
Because of Christ and his redeeming love, we already know where it all ends – so join us in celebrating our freedom in Him as we further explore ‘the beginning!’
