In this episode I speak to author Joileen Mischel who shared with us her personal life story of feeling unloved, controlled, and voiceless while growing up in an abusive family environment. Her story is one of self-creation, of finding a way out of self-doubt to arrive at a place where she feels she no longer needs to prove her worth. She used various methods of self-development including therapy, religion and eventually developed a spiritual mindset to understand her place in the scheme of life and to realise that her challenges and struggles have led her to where (and who) she is meant to be.
Her book “Broken Past Heals Dreams” is the story of one woman’s personal journey of optimism and inspiration. She offers encouragement for those who have suffered or are suffering harm or abuse – those who have cultivated self-doubts – or those who have fears of what lies ahead.
She shows us, by example, that it is possible to live a satisfying and successful life after trauma and abuse, and health crises, to overcome the past hurts and create a life we are meant to live. We are shown that by holding fast to our dreams we can indeed fulfil the dreams that were seeded way back in our childhood. Remember, NOTHING is impossible for those who believe – and refund to give up.
