This week we are joined by the incredible JT Valor to dive into the GO Fest news and discuss what makes for a fun large scale IRL event. We have plenty to unpack as JT is one of the most traveled and hands on Trainers in the content scene.
We begin by strolling down memory lane to when we first met JT back at Chicago GO Fest 2018. With the game and content scene still being so young, it was clear that JT’s priorities lied within the Shiny Grind. We discuss how his play style influences his content, and what it takes to prepare for all day grinds to capture the spirit of the event.
Having experienced IRL events on multiple continents, JT has a unique perspective on what makes for a fun and engaging Park Gameplay experience. We talk about how while NYC may have had the weakest Park Experience, it had the best City Experience. This dynamic isn’t only challenging for the Trainer to navigate, but also defines the gameplay trajectory at the event.
Being a self made creator with no ties to the developer, JT’s connection to the game comes from pure enjoyment. We learn how his grinds are naturally part of his life because he simply loves the game and being outside exploring. This is easy to see in his content, as his commitment to taking his viewers with him on his journeys is clear.
We wrap up with some casual banter about the game and how the relationships we make in it impact our lives. We have built friendships in this game that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives, wherever it may take us.
