340 Telepathic Bullying and Manufacturing Reality

Listen Later

Session 340: Mind Over Matter and Telepathic Vibe-Checking

Recorded on the evening of May 10, 1967, this session finds our favorite "energy personality essence," Seth, dropping some seriously heavy—yet surprisingly chill—knowledge on Jane Roberts, Robert Butts, and their neighbor, Barbara Ingold.

Pull up a chair, relax, and let's break down how you’re accidentally building your own reality while you’re busy worrying about your taxes.

The Reality Architect: Your Imagination is the Blueprint

Seth wasted no time telling Barbara (and us) that the pictures in our heads aren't just idle daydreams; they’re basically 3D-printing our future. If you’re imagining "dire circumstances," don't be surprised when they show up at your front door.

  • You get what you expect: Your environment is the direct result of your expectations. If you think life is a dumpster fire, grab some marshmallows, because you’re the one who lit the match.
  • Vivid Health: Seth argues that to be healthy, you have to imagine health as vividly as you usually imagine getting sick.
  • Quote: "The inner psychological state is projected outward, gaining physical reality. This holds true regardless of the nature of that inner psychological state."
  • The Mirror Effect: You aren’t trapped by your circumstances; you’re trapped by your attitudes. Change the vibe inside, and the "sense data world" outside has no choice but to follow suit.

Telepathic Ammunition: How We Mess with Each Other

Ever wonder why that one person you dislike always acts like a jerk? Seth says it might be your fault. We are all constantly "vibe-checking" each other via subconscious telepathy.

  • Telepathic Suggestions: You are constantly sending out "telepathic suggestions" to others on how they should behave. If you decide someone is a "drunk" or "miserable," you’re actually sending them subconscious "ammunition" to keep being that way.
  • Be a Bro: If you see someone struggling, tell yourself, "He will begin to feel better now." You’re giving them a telepathic boost to fight off despondency.
  • Quote: "Every individual reacts to suggestion... an individual will to some extent or another act according the mass suggestions he has received."

Ego vs. Inner Self: The "Paper Dragon" Problem

Seth gets a little sassy here, pointing out that most of our problems are just "paper dragons" we enjoy puncturing, while the real inner issues go ignored.

  • The Counterfeit Self: The ego is a "counterfeit self." It talks a lot, but it’s not the "whole self."
  • Stop Judging: If you think everyone around you is deceitful or lazy, Seth suggests looking in the mirror. We project our subconscious self-loathing onto others to avoid dealing with it ourselves.
  • Quote: "If you want to know what you think of yourself, then ask yourself what you think of others, and you will find your answer."

Seth’s "Better Than Excedrin" Commercial

Seth literally offered a "commercial" for health that’s better than painkillers. If you have a headache, stop claiming it.

  • Erase and Replace: The moment a negative thought or pain pops up, erase it. Replace "I have a headache" with "That is in the past... I am already feeling better."
  • The Pivot: Once you say the positive suggestion, distract yourself immediately. Don't sit there waiting for the pain to go away; go do something else.
  • Constructive Armor: Tell yourself frequently, "I will only react to constructive suggestions." It’s like a psychic firewall for your brain.
