On the coaching front, West Point has promoted offensive coordinator Brett Morgan to lead the football program (2:03). He replaces Chris Chambless, who won seven state titles in 18 years with the Green Wave.

On the hardwood, Booneville’s girls opened region play with a big win over Alcorn Central (4:18), while South Pontotoc’s boys blew past Ingomar (6:26). Pontotoc’s girls, meanwhile, beat Starkville on Saturday and then set a state record for 3-pointers in a game on Tuesday (8:56).
