#35 - Meet the team: Amanda Kelly

Listen Later

In this episode, we meet Amanda Kelly, Policy and Practice Manager at Community Housing Aotearoa.

Amanda grew up in a small village in the west of Ireland, where community and care for others were simply part of daily life. After studying health promotion at the National University of Ireland, Galway, she arrived in New Zealand in 2007.

Her career has taken her from injury prevention and tobacco control advocacy, through seven years at Auckland Council, to CHA, where she has spent the past five years working across homelessness policy, lived experience engagement, and cross-sector collaboration.

In this episode, Amanda reflects on what drew her to purpose-driven work, the relationships and values that have shaped her practice, and why she believes housing as a human right is not an idealistic aspiration — but the only framework that makes sense. She also shares what she loves about working in Aotearoa, and why she still calls two places home.

We'd like to thank Amanda for taking the time to speak with us for this episode.
