Let's get Burnt Out with Andrea Hall!
Who is Andrea?Andrea Hall is a wife, mom, transformational health coach, and recovering job juggler!
Andrea holds a Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling; is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Family Life Educator, and professional Communication Coach! She has a passion for seeing potential in uncommon faces.
What is feeling Successful?Feeling successful is sort of like a mirage.. it's a good one though!
It's like goal setting, but we all know that as soon as you reach that goal, you set another one father away. It's like picking up rocks... not one is the same and they all help build your gorgeous tower.
What is feeling Burnt Out?For Andrea, feeling burnt out can mean a few different things.
It could be not wanting to get out of bed, having a headache, when your stomach is in knots.
Also, what are you doing at work? Is it the same thing every single day? Is it cookie cutter?
Salt and pepper are good, but using only salt and pepper every single day get old.
The Burnt Out Experience Andrea's StoryAndrea was hired as an Area Director for a nonprofit.
It started out great! She was connecting with the community and had cool responsibilities, but soon after, she felt micromanaged. That enough to burn someone out.
Beyond that, Andrea also had NO room for creativity in her job. All the expectations were laid out for her, word for word, task by task. That's when she realized this was a cookie cutter job that just wasn't for her.
So, she found a new one!
Advice for you Don't make a move without a plan.Make a plan of action.
Don't just jump to the next thing. A plan will make you think of you values, your network, and your options.
Andrea's Caution: Don't tell everyone your plan! Make your plan and start making changes, but don't immediately let your plan be known. It might cause you to burn bridges you'll need in the future.
Expand Your NextworkIf your network looks like you, talks like you, thinks like you, lives like you.... you need to step outside your comfort zone.
It's important for us to grow as people and that means people challenging us, thinking differently, working differently, and telling us the hard things to hear. It can be painful, but it's important to keep your life fresh, new, and growing.
Listener QuestionsThese are questions you all have submitted for me to ask my guests! If you have any others to add, please send them to me! [email protected]
What does leadership mean to you?Leading from where you are, not from where you expect to be.
Who do you look up to?The people who have gone before me: my mom, dad, and grandparents.
The people who have encouraged me AND the people who discouraged me.
What is the next book we should read? The Carpenter by Jon Gordon
