Take Two and Rockstar Games dropped a bombshell on the industry this week when it was announced that Dan Houser, one of the co-founders and creative vice president of the studio behind Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, would be leaving the company next month. With Dan being such an enormously important person within the company, writing and producing nearly every single major release since the studios inception, it begs the question: what will this prestigious studio look like in the coming years? Take Two has suggested it wants Rockstar to release titles more frequently, and surely wants to continue to push into the online, microtransaction-fueled sector that Grand Theft Auto Online has carved out. Could GTA6 be online-focused, or will Rockstar be able to stay the path by keeping a heavy emphasis on single player story telling? Sony continues to make changes of its own as it announces the closure of its Manchester studio, a VR-focused team that never released a product since its founding in 2015. And they've also sent out a survey asking about PlayStation Remote Play on... Nintendo Switch?! While Sony's hardware generation is winding down as their financial earnings call made clear last week, Nintendo's continues to wind up with a major sales milestone for Switch and some huge Pokemon sales numbers with Sword and Shield. And last but not least, NVIDIA officially enters the cloud gaming fight with a product that sounds oddly like what everyone hoped Google Stadia would offer.
