#36 Life and Work are all about Relationships

Listen Later

I’ll start this episode off with some real shit because I know someone needs to hear this… You  can’t help others until you help yourself. I don’t know what you’re going through right now, maybe lost your job during this covid pandemic, maybe baby girl doesn’t think you’re cute  anymore or you just got dumped… Let’s just forget about all of that right now and let’s hone in on where you are heading or where you need to go moving forward…

Kirsten I’m not sure if you do this, but I ask myself these questions as soon as I wake up. They are set in my phone  as reminders, so here goes:

What matters most in my life?

What do I want most in life?

Am I holding on to something I need to let go of?

During these unfortunate events, jobs are being lost. But at the very same time, new ones are  arising that we’ve never seen before. Flip life opportunities are of the abundance, Im talkin’ shoe flipping, sports cards, anything around the  house, clothes, craiglists is poppin off. Very  easy to go on there right now and buy something dirt cheap and resell on another platform like Ebay or Stock X.

But that’s not why we’re on here today, Kirsten you start us off… What do you wanna discuss?

Kirsten:My dudes lets be real, we become who we surround ourselves with. More specifically we take on  the characteristics of the 5 people we spend the most time with. Do you ever notice you picking up different slang or verbage from your friends, co-workers, or SO. Thats because we naturally take on parts of those we hang out with.

The good/bad thing is you will either grow as a person or you are going to stay stagnant and or find yourself in places you don’t want to be in.

With all of that being said if you want to grow find one of these types and incorporate them in your life. You may even find people who have more than one of these characteristics.

So here is what you want to look for in the people you spend the most time with.

  1. The Dreamer- the person always coming up with great ideas, things that you haven’t thought of, or someone who allows you to see something from a different perspective
  2. The Driver- This is your worker bee. The person with the plan and is going to get shit done
  3. The motivator-This is your “cheerleader”, the person reminding you of your purpose
  4. The Supporter- This person is your ride or die. They will never leave your side
  5. The devils advocate- this is the no nonsense person. They are blunt and going to tell it like it is.

Im not telling you to get rid of all of your friends if they dont emulate one of these characters, but realize you may be stagnant in life because the people you spend time with aren’t challenging you to be the best version of yourself. You should never feel bad if you are on a path of growth and your friends don’t understand or cut you down for it. They are on a different path and don’t see your vision, you don’t have to say goodbye, but it may be a see you around.

There is a good saying that goes, if you are the smartest person in the room you need to find a new room.

The next thing to look at is are you being one of these things for someone else. You should want those around you to do better. Take the initiative and be one of the people that they need in their lives.
