What does it mean to “be easy” when life feels heavy? When the world is crashing down, ease can feel impossible — or even wrong. But this conversation reminded us that it’s less about fixing the darkness, and more about choosing how we move through it.
We talk about the difference between numbing out and consciously choosing what supports you, the importance of moving energy instead of bottling it up, and how small shifts can bring a little more ease to dark times.
A handful of things that can help when life feels heavy:
🌱 Be mindful about what you’re consuming — content, news, conversations
📴 Unplug when you need to, and give yourself space from people if that feels right
💛 Lean on friends and family who make you feel safe and seen
🎶 Use music, dance, or movies to shift energy
🧘 Meditate, drop in, or find your “receptive mode” of letting in the light
🐻 Reach for simple comforts: stuffed animals, totems, anything that brings peace
🍳 Transform your energy through cooking, games, organizing, or planning something fun
🥤 And most importantly: be easy with your body — nourishing food, water, movement, and rest without guilt
This episode is an invitation to remember that dark times are part of being human. We can’t always control them, but we can choose how we meet them — with presence, compassion, and a little more ease.
Intro & Outro music gratefully provided by our wonderful pal Captain Luke. Cover photo by the radiant Noelle Johnson.
