On the “Black Women & Fibroids” episode host Rachel ‘Rae’ Crowder had a conversation with Joyvina Evans about the statistics, detection, and treatments for uterine fibroids.

Dr. Joyvina Evans earned a Ph.D. in Public Health with a specialization in Community Health Promotion and Education, a Master's in Public Health, a Master's in Administration, and a Bachelor's of Business in Management. She completed the Strategies for Higher Education Teaching and Learning certificate and Women in Education Leadership program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. Additionally, Dr. Evans completed the Executive Leadership certificate and High-Performance certificate from Cornell University (online).
Dr. Evans currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences at Howard University in Washington DC. Her research interests include links between health literacy and women’s reproductive health outcomes as well as links between implicit bias and health disparities. She is the Founder of Advocating for My Uterus, a non-profit organization with the purpose of providing education, training, and support for women (and those who love them) diagnosed with conditions such as uterine fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, and more. Dr. Evans is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, American Public Health Association, and Association of University Programs in Healthcare Administration.
