every check has been spent
every impulse is a magnet to his unexplained need for comfort 
that can only be found in his blazer pocket.
For $20 he receives a brainfreeze deposited thru his right nostril 
which replaces his sense of sensibility.
The "new crowd" reassures him it is "safe," I don't care just as long as it 
never goes directly to his heart.
The others have footprints
on their arms.
Everyone travels first class on the gravy train.
he's not tired of it.
the tolerance is beginning to overwhelm.
he escaped; but a 6 month stay couldn't correct every mental faculty.
The 1st night out...he goes and freezer burns his brainwaves.
no tolerance.
not this time.
motionless.
in a tub.
