In today’s show, Steve interviews Jillian Walker, Account Manager in Business Development for the Detroit Tigers & Olympia Entertainment who shares her thoughts on mindset, failure, and accountability.
Back in 2015, Jillian interned with us and successfully ran a $70,000 painting business.
Jillian grew up in a small Michigan town and was an extremely involved student who excelled in sports as well as academics. Always game for trying something new, Jillian was extremely excited when she first came across the YEAA internship while studying business administration at Central Michigan University.
Taking up the YEAA internship was a conscious decision to set herself apart in a crowded job market. She talks about the importance of working hard during pre-season and shares how she managed her painting crew that summer in this segment of the show.
You will learn how Jillian enlisted the help of her brother and best friend just so that she could meet her production targets and qualify for the awards trip to Jamaica.
Upon graduation, Jillian first worked in the mortgage industry with Quicken Loans before she got her dream job as an account manager with the Detroit Tigers. Here, Jillian shares her job responsibilities, the different opportunities, as well as challenges.
She talks about how COVID brought all the sporting events to a complete standstill last year, and how she and her team are keen to get back into gear with the end of the pandemic finally in sight.
