38: Staying fit through pregnancy and beyond with Nichelle Gurule

Listen Later

Thank you so much for being here!
Whether you’ve been listening, subscribing or sharing the show, I really appreciate the support guys! The goal with this show is to support and grow the Colorado fitness community and to be an inspiration. So that when life get’s hard and you feel down or defeated, you have something to help lift you up and keep you going! Because that’s what it takes to succeed. You have to keep going! I chose to interview Colorado fitness experts because these guys are the ones we turn to for support and motivation. They help people just like you every day and have likely had some of the same struggles as you. I want you to get to know them, the challenges they’ve faced, and how they can help you with your fitness goals.
Today we have Nichelle Gurule,
Nichelle’s a Chiropractor and personal trainer, who's focus is on Pregnancy, Post-Partum, and Pediatrics. She owns Enhanced Movements Chiropractic and Wellness Center with her husband Antonio who was on last week’s episode.
Nichelle and Antonio are putting out some great YouTube videos. So if you want to see them in action or just want to get some great tips on moving better, check it out!

One of the biggest challenges that Nichelle mentions is fitness through her pregnancy and post-partum. "Before it seemed like I had a body that could do just about anything and then all of a sudden hormones kick in and I'm exhausted and nauseous all the time."
Nichelle gives some great tips for fitness in general here but also for the expecting or new mothers out there. Or for the new dads looking to help their baby’s momma through everything.
I had a lot of fun talking with Nichelle. She has a ton of energy and a great story. I think you guys are really going to love this one.
Nichelle's main focus is with Post-Partum.
She says, so many women don't get the care they need. They're focused on their child, and they don't do much for themselves.
There are a lot of changes that take place during and after pregnancy with the body and how you function from day to day.
Nichelle has a class at Crossfit Moov Vital called Mom Fit, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Mom F.I.T. is specifically tailored and programmed class for new moms! This class gives new mothers a chance to workout with a trainer, be in a group environment that is sympathetic to the challenges of being a new mother, meet other moms in the area, and workout without worrying about daycare.
Nichelle's top tips for new moms:
Listen to your body. If you take care of your body, over time, it will understand what it needs.
If you're thirsty, drink more. If you're breastfeeding, you'll need to drink more.
Hungry? Eat more. Just make sure it's clean, nutritious food.
Rest when you're tired.
It's ok to take a few days off from working out when you feel like you need to.
Remember that your body can change. You just have to be consistent with clean eating and a healthy fitness routine.
To learn more about Nichelle or to get in touch, go to Enhanced Movements Chiropractic and Wellness Center.
Also, I'm trying to help Fit2BeKids find some help for their upcoming 5k pumpkin patch event this fall. They need event planning volunteers, day of event volunteers, sponsors, runners and community advocates. If you or anyone you know would like to help out, reach out to Coach Shae at [email protected].
Many thanks to Nichelle for an awesome interview and to you all for the love and support!
Much love,
Jason
