There are a lot of pieces to this whole parenting puzzle. I call it a puzzle because none of us walk out of the hospital that first day with a clue as to what we are doing. We figure it out piece by piece every day for the next 20+ years. And the more you work on the puzzle, the more you learn strategies like starting with finding the corner pieces and then building the frame or boundary of the puzzle and then working on sections that have the same color.  Today's section of the puzzle in helping out kids become successful and competent adults is an important one! Not only does it help make our kids less selfish, more confident, and contributing members of the family, it helps us, the parents, manage a household without losing our minds.
